The Empire 1950 Joins Wellington Lions

Wellington Rugby is pleased to announce a new partnership with The Empire 1950.

Located on Jackson Street in Petone, the popular bar and restaurant will feature its Lion motif above the number 6 jersey throughout the 2026 season.

Established in 1950, The Empire has been a longstanding fixture of the Petone community, renowned for its exceptional service and warm hospitality, making it a favourite destination for both locals and visitors alike.

WRFU CEO Tony Giles said, “It’s fantastic to partner with another Lion and one with such a long-standing history, much like our own Lions. We’re pleased to have The Empire on board and look forward to what we can achieve together through this partnership.”
