Our BCITO Under 19 Boys team represents the pinnacle of youth rugby in Wellington, bringing together the region’s most talented and driven young players. This high-level representative side competes with intensity, skill and pride, reflecting Wellington’s strong rugby culture. Beyond their immediate competition, the team provides a vital development pathway, equipping players with the experience, coaching and exposure needed to progress to the Hurricanes U20 squad and for the most exceptional talents, the New Zealand U20 campaign. For many of these players, donning the Wellington U19 jersey is a key milestone on the journey to elite rugby.

Wellington’s U19 team currently holds the prestigious Central Region Shield, a coveted trophy contested annually in the Hurricanes Youth Rugby Council’s U19 tournament. This competition is one of the most highly regarded in the region, pitting Wellington against traditional rivals such as Hawke’s Bay, Manawatū and Hurricanes Heartland U20. In the lead up to the tournament, our U19s compete against powerhouse sides from Waikato, Tasman and Canterbury. Each match is a true test of skill, teamwork and resilience, with Wellington’s players consistently demonstrating their ability to rise to the occasion.
