Lions Lock in Home Games for 2025
Wellington Rugby is pleased to announce that all five home games for the Wellington Lions in the 2025 Bunnings National Provincial Championship (NPC) will be played at Porirua Park.
After successfully hosting three games at the venue last season, the Lions have committed to playing their full home schedule at Porirua Park in 2025 as they build towards the playoffs.
The Lions will open their season on 2 August with a blockbuster clash against arch-rivals Canterbury.
Porirua Park will also host both Wellington Pride home fixtures in the Farah Palmer Cup against Otago on 17 August and Taranaki on 31 August. Both matches will be part of double-headers, with the Lions facing Otago and Auckland respectively in the afternoon games.
The Lions will host the Southland Stags on 20 September, before wrapping up their home campaign with a rematch of the thrilling 2024 NPC final against Bay of Plenty.
Should the Lions progress to the playoff rounds, those matches will be held at Sky Stadium.
WRFU CEO Tony Giles said “We’re grateful for the opportunity to take the Lions and Pride out into the wider community. This is an exciting step for Wellington Rugby, and we appreciate Sky Stadium’s support in helping us finalise the 2025 home game schedule.
