Passing of Peter Osborne
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Former WRFU President and OBU stalwart Peter Osborne.
The word ‘legend’ gets bandied about often these days but there is no other word suitable to sum up Oz and his contribution to Rugby and VUW/OBU in particular. He played in the famous VUW Jubilee Cup winning sides of the 1950s and represented NZ Universities, Wellington (Lion #1008) and was an All Black trialist over that time. Peter was Life Member #17 of the VUW Club and was VUW President #15 from 1982-1989. After the amalgamation, he was elected as the 4th President of OBU 2008-2011. In 1989 he became WRFU’s Vice President #154 and in 1992, President #57. He was also President of Centurions RFC in 1990 and was made a Life Member in1995. Peter’s huge contribution, his humour and dedication will be sorely missed by OBU and all who knew him.
