Passing of Memphis Strachan

The Wellington Rugby Referees Association wishes to acknowledge the tragic passing of Memphis Strachan, who was recently killed in a car accident in Northland.

Memphis joined the WRRA three years ago while still a student at Mana College and immediately made an impression with his outgoing personality and eagerness to learn. He quickly became a key member of our ARing panel—always available, always willing to help with any game, anywhere.

Memphis was larger than life—always smiling, always ready for a chat. His passion for rugby, and especially for refereeing, was second to none. He genuinely loved being part of our rugby community and brought joy and energy to every sideline he stood on.

Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with his family and loved ones. Memphis will be dearly missed by all of us at the Association, and by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.
