The WRFU is proud to announce Mode Technology as the new front-of-jersey Major Partner of the Wellington Lions for the 2026 Hilux NPC season.

As the Lions celebrate their 50th season in New Zealand's premier provincial competition, the partnership marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter between one of Wellington's most iconic sporting teams and one of the region's fastest-growing businesses.

The front of the Wellington Lions jersey is one of the most recognisable and prestigious branding positions in New Zealand provincial rugby. Worn by generations of Lions greats and seen by supporters across the country, it represents a partnership built on pride, ambition and a shared commitment to representing the Wellington region.

Founded in Wellington, Mode Technology is a proudly Māori and Kiwi-owned business that has become a leader in commercial cleaning services and autonomous cleaning and service robotics. Through innovation, exceptional service and strong community values, the company has earned a reputation for helping organisations across New Zealand create cleaner, safer and more efficient workplaces.

Mode Technology General Manager says, “This partnership is a proud milestone for Mode Technology. As a family-owned business founded in Wellington, we’ve grown through the support of our customers, our team, and our community. It’s an honour to become Major Sponsor of the Wellington Lions and to stand behind a team that proudly represents the region where our journey began.”

WRFU Chief Executive Tony Giles said Mode Technology was an ideal fit for the Wellington Lions.

"Having Mode Technology join the Lions as our front-of-jersey Major Partner is a significant moment for Wellington Rugby. The front of the jersey carries enormous history and pride, and it's fitting that it will be worn by a company with such strong Wellington roots and a genuine commitment to innovation and community.

"Mode Technology has built an impressive business by challenging the status quo and embracing new technology, while remaining true to its local values. Those qualities mirror the direction of our organisation and the aspirations we have for the Wellington Lions. We're delighted to welcome them to the Wellington Rugby whānau and look forward to building a successful partnership together."
