Mills Albert Wellington Pride Name Side for Home Semi
It’s a comeback story for the ages, as the Mills Albert Wellington Pride earn themselves a home semi-final and go back-to-back with Otago Spirit.
Wellington Pride Head Coach Fusi Feaunati has named his 23 to take on the Spirit, after a well fought win against the side in Dunedin last week.
A familiar lineup in the front row, with Petone teammates Lavinia Lea, Alicia Print and Tess Woldring being named. Sophie Irving moves back to start at lock, alongside captain Jax Patea-Fereti. Anyis Drossaerts-Lake also returns to the starting lineup at loose forward.
A formidable backline remains largely unchanged, with the exception of Shakira Baker being named on the wing. Feaunati has also named a strong impact group, with a mixture of youth and experience.
“I’m incredibly proud of how the girls have performed this season, and how they’ve connected both on and off the field,” remarked Feaunati, “this is a powerful moment for women’s rugby in the community and will contribute hugely to the growth and visibility of our sport in the Wellington region.”
The Mills Albert Wellington Pride fight for a spot in the final at Porirua Park this Sunday 15th September, kicking off at 12.05pm against the Otago Spirit.
