Judicial Process

The Judicial Process outlines how WRFU manages on‑field discipline, citing, complaints, appeals and the administrative flow for Blue Card and serious‑injury incidents.

This framework ensures disciplinary matters are handled consistently, transparently and in accordance with NZ Rugby rules.

How the Process Works
  • Red Cards
If a player is sent off, the incident is automatically reviewed through the WRFU judicial process

  • Citing Complaints
Clubs or authorised individuals can submit a citing when foul play may have occurred but was not detected during the match

  • Complaints & Disputes
Clubs can lodge formal complaints about conduct or match‑related issues through the official form

  • Appeals
If a club or player wishes to appeal a judicial decision, they can do so using the Notice of Appeal

  • Blue Card & Serious Injury Tracking
Blue Cards and serious injuries follow a dedicated reporting and review pathway within the same judicial framework
