2020 Lions, Pride playing jersey to sport names of supporters

2020 will be remembered for several reasons, but it will also be the year, Wellington’s rugby supporters will be given the opportunity to take to the field with their favourite players.

When you play Wellington, you play us all! This mantra will be reinforced during 2020, with 25 supporters given the chance to buy themselves a spot on the chest of the Wellington Lions and Pride playing jerseys.

The names will be printed into the fabric, right next to several Wellington Rugby legends such as Andy Leslie, Melodie Robinson, Rebecca Liua’ana, Ron Jardon, Graham Williams, Erin Rush and Christian Cullen.

They will also be joined by a representative from each of the 16 local clubs and supporters of the Wellington Premier and representative teams.

Added to this, Wellington Rugby will be running an online competition for the community to nominate other supporters who contribute tirelessly to the game of rugby throughout the region.

Funds raised will go towards the establishment of Wellington rugby’s ‘introduction to rugby’ that will reduce the costs for junior players to play in 2021. Each year the names on the jerseys will change to allow Wellington Rugby to recognise more legends of our game and give supporters the opportunity to be part of the team.

What will it cost?

The price has been set at $500.00 for your name on either the Wellington Lions jersey or the Pride jersey. Included in that price, fans will also receive an autographed version of the jersey, invitations to Wellington Lions fan events and other benefits.
