Pride Wider Training Squad Announced for 2026 Campaign

As we begin preparations for the 2026 season, the Wellington Pride management group would first like to acknowledge a number of players from our 2025 campaign who will not be returning this year.

We thank Dora Laupola (personal), Madison Gold (Canada), Brooke Jones, Tia Brown and Lesieli Tuangalu (injury), Harmony Kautai (NRLW) and Fono Bason (Manawatū) for their contribution to the Pride programme and wish them every success in their next chapter. We hope to see them back in a Pride jersey again in the future.

We also acknowledge a group of players who have made themselves available for international duties, which may impact their involvement with the Pride this season. These players are Ayesha Leti-I'iga, Drenna Falaniko, Fa'asua Makisi, Nina Foaese and Sinead Ryder. We fully support these opportunities and look forward to following their international journeys.

This year, we have selected an extended Wider Squad with a focus not only on the upcoming campaign but also on building for the future. The squad features an exciting mix of experienced players and emerging talent, with a deliberate emphasis on exposing young athletes to a high-performance environment early in their development. We want them to understand the standards, expectations and commitment required to compete at this level.

With a month of preparation before the season begins, including two pre-season fixtures, there will be plenty of opportunities for the squad to come together, build connections, enjoy the experience and compete for positions.

Head Coach Matt Poutoa said they were excited about what lies ahead.

"We're incredibly excited about the group we've assembled and look forward to meeting the squad in person next week. There is a great balance of experience and potential, and we're eager to see everyone come together as we prepare for the season ahead."

The squad also welcomes a pair of notable additions.

Renee Savaiinaea joins the programme on a training agreement. A member of the championship-winning St Mary's College side, Renee transitioned into professional netball and has since been immersed in a high-performance sporting environment, bringing valuable experience and professionalism to the group.

Merania Paraone returns home following a stint with the Brumbies. Originally part of the Chiefs Manawa programme in 2024, Merania now joins the Pride and is looking forward to establishing herself back home within the team environment.

The management group is excited about the depth, talent and future potential within this year's squad and looks forward to the opportunities ahead throughout the 2026 campaign.
