Lions welcome Harbour City Funerals
The Wellington Lions are proud to announce a new partnership with Harbour City Funerals, a trusted name in funeral care across Wellington, Hutt Valley, and Kāpiti.
Harbour City Funerals has been part of the Wellington community since 1989, supporting families with care and compassion for more than 35 years. They’ve built a trusted reputation by always putting people first. This season, they’ve put their name on the back of the Lions jersey (#21). Beyond funeral services, Harbour City Funerals is all about giving back, running community education programmes, hosting remembrance events, and creating meaningful ways to bring people together.
“Harbour City Funerals has always been about supporting people with respect and empathy, and that aligns closely with the Lions’ values of community and connection,” said Tony Giles, Wellington Rugby CEO. “We’re delighted to welcome them into our Lions family as we continue to strengthen ties with organisations making a real difference in our region.”
Geoff Botherway, General Manager of Harbour City Funerals, says “We’re proud to stand behind the Lions — not just for the success they chase on the field, but for the dedication, teamwork, and community spirit they represent off it. Supporting them means supporting values we share: hard work and pride in our community”
The Lions look forward to working alongside Harbour City Funerals in 2025 and celebrating the strength of Wellington’s community both on and off the field.
