WELLINGTON RUGBY OVERVIEW

The Wellington Rugby Football Union (WRFU) is one of the oldest and most storied rugby unions in the country, with a rich history dating back to 1879. WRFU is the peak governing body for Rugby in the Greater Wellington Region, overseeing rugby delivery for 18 clubs and an approximate membership base of almost 10,000. WRFU also delivers all high-performance rugby in the region from all age group representation through to the FPC and NPC through the Wellington Pride and Wellington Lions.

 

KEY PURPOSE

The purpose of the role is to provide strong governance oversight and recommendations to assist the Chief Executive and Senior Leadership team in the effective and efficient administration of rugby delivery within the Wellington region.

The Board’s core focus is to set the platform for strengthening the business performance and rugby opportunities, to provide the long-term strategic leadership and direction of the game, leading to the creation of a long-term sustainable future for WRFU and the game within the region.

Board members are expected to act honestly, in good faith and in the best interests of the organisation and in so doing, to support WRFU in fulfilling its purpose while upholding it’s values.
