VALE David Linkhorn

It is with a heavy heart and great sadness that we report the passing of former WRFU President and Petone Rugby Football Club Life Member Dave Linkhorn.

Dave passed away peacefully yesterday morning surrounded by his loving family.

Links was as True Blue as one can be, joining the Petone club straight out of college and playing in age grade sides through to a long career in our Senior B side then becoming a member of our very successful Presidents team, always as an unmovable prop.

Dave was also very active in administration around the Club serving on many committees. He was Club President 2000/02 and Management Committee Chairman in 2013

The one role he will best remembered for was as Chair of the organising committee for the 125th Anniversary. Dave worked tirelessly to make sure the celebration was a success which it truly was. At the same time David Linkhorn was elected President of the Wellington Rugby Football Union and held that position in our 125th Year, to top off a great year Links was bestowed the honour of PRFC Life Membership .

Dave remained a constant attendee at games and held a regular spot in the clubrooms on a Saturday night until he and wife Michele moved to Carterton. Michele sadly passed away on Boxing Day 2022. Dave lost his first wife Leonie many years ago.

Our thoughts and Aroha go to Dave’s adult children Bevan and Claire and his extended family.

Dave will be missed by all who knew him, his good mates, I know are mourning the passing of a very very close brother. Kia Kaha.

FUNERAL SERVICE UPDATE:

The family have advised that Daves funeral will be held on Monday 2pm at the Richmond Funeral Home in Carterton followed by refreshments at St Marks Church Hall across the road.
