Following an inspection of Petone Recreation Ground today, and in consultation with Hutt City Council and relevant Committee Chairs, Wellington Rugby Football Union (WRFU) has made the decision to move this weekend’s Club Finals Day to Hutt Recreation Ground.
With the recent rainfall Wellington has experienced, this decision was deemed necessary in order to play on a more resilient surface which is able to withstand the rigours of a finals day. Despite some fine weather forecast, the Petone surface was holding too much moisture at the time of inspection to make a finals series feasible.
The full schedule of matches is confirmed as:
Jubilee Cup Final (Premier Men’s Div 1): Marist St Pats v Tawa; Hutt Rec 1, 2:30pm
Hardham Cup Final (Premier Men’s Div 2): Petone v Poneke; Hutt Rec 1, 12:30pm
Ed Chaney Cup Final (Premier 2 Men’s Div 1): Tawa v Hutt Old Boys Marist; Hutt Rec 2, 12:10pm
Paul Potiki Memorial Shield (Under 85kg Div 1): Avalon v Johnsonville; Hutt Rec 3, 2:20pm
Tony O’Brien Memorial Shield (Under 85kg Div 2): Old Boys University v Wellington; Hutt Rec 3, 12:10pm
