Small Blacks Course U6 – U13

Is compulsory for all coaches and assistants from U6 grade and above to U13 grade.

A series of introductory modules that emphasise creating an environment of skill-development and fun. User-friendly coaches’ handbooks and coaching resources are issued free to all coaches who attend the course.

Attendance is compulsory each year for registration as a Small Blacks coach. Coaches must complete:

  • Coaching Small Blacks Module and the relevant modules from:

    • Beginning Rugby Course: for Under 6–Under 7 coaches OR
    • Learning Rugby Course: for Under 8–Under 10 coaches OR
    • Playing Rugby Course: for Under 11–Under 13 coaches

 

Coaches are welcome to complete their annual Small Blacks course requirement at any of the courses located around the region below:

Time: 9.00-12.30pm

 

Western Bays Course

Date:   Saturday 4th April 2020

Venue: Aotea College, Okowai Road, Aotea, Porirua

 

Wellington City Course

Date:   Sunday 5th April 2020

Venue: Scots College, 1 Monorgan Road, Strathmore Park, Wellington

 

Hutt Valley Course

Date:   Sunday 3rd May 2020

Venue: St Bernard’s College, 183 Waterloo Road, Lower Hutt

 

 

Junior Coach Development Certificate U11– U13

Optional - Junior Coach Development Course.

 

What is the Junior Coach Development Certificate U11-U13

It is a targeted coach up-skill opportunity open to all coaches with a focus on the U11 to U13 age group level.

 

Course Details:

Date:   Monday 8th June 2020

Venue: Fraser Park Sportsville, Kadima Lounge

Time   6.30-9.30pm

 

Session Topics:

  • Coaching Process
  • Modified games and activities to teach skills and engage your players at training
  • Coaching skills (including the contact area & other core rugby skills)
