TeamTalk 32 is now online.Wellington has chosen to take the Ranfurly Shield “on tour” and defend it against Wairarapa-Bush in Masterton on Thursday 2 July 2009, kick-off 3.05pm
The game will be broadcast live on the Rugby Channel.
How many times have Wairarapa-Bush held the Ranfurly Shield?
One of the key objectives identified within the Game Development quadrant of the WRFU Scoreboard for 2009, was the need to develop a legacy strategy and commence planning with member clubs for RWC 2011. A working group is to be established to ensure Wellington Rugby's 18 member clubs and affiliated bodies have the opportunity to derive maximum benefit from this country's hosting of RWC 2011 – before, during and after the event. A key step has now been made with the appointment of Andy Leslie to this working group. Wellington representatives will soon be attending an NZRU workshop to establish national guidelines for such groups.
A reminder about this very important function:

undervalued, resource. Has your club planned and organised to look after your volunteers?

Have you got all those registrations completed? Another reminder about the need to make certain all your administrators and volunteers (as well as your players and coaches) have registered this year. Are all your committee registered?
Rugby New Zealand 2011 (RNZ 2011) has indicated that it will be developing specific offers for the New Zealand rugby community and that it expects that any such offer will be made to players, referees, coaches, volunteers and administrators registered for the 2009 season. Please note that as RNZ 2011 is still developing the ticketing strategy, this indication of the availability of specific offers is not a binding commitment by RNZ 2011 to make an offer of Rugby World Cup tickets, and any offer that is made in no way guarantees access to tickets.
If you would like to receive any information from RNZ 2011 about the Rugby World Cup 2011, you must make sure you tick the box on the registration form. If you have any questions, please contact

The joint union, Wairarapa-Bush, has never held the Ranfurly Shield.
The Shield has been held by Wairarapa, on its own, in 1927 (with 2 successful defences), 1928 (8), and 1950 (after taking the Shield off Canterbury, they lost in their next game against South Canterbury).
