Wellington U18 Trialists named

The trial for the Wellington Under 18 Representative team will be held at Maidstone Park on Sunday 18 July.  Players are asked to assemble at 11am for a 1pm kick off.
Players will be provided with jerseys for the trial but are asked to bring all other gear they require.  Showers will be available at the completion of the trial.

Wellington Maori winners at Te Tini a Maui Tournament

Wellington Maori have successfully defended the Hikaia Amohia Trophy at the "Te Tini a Maui" Maori rugby tournament held in Palmerston North over the weekend. This tournament is played by provincial Maori teams from within the Hurricanes region.  

Coached by former Maori All Black Ray MacDonald & assisted by Rangi Kelly, these two coaches guided there team to an eleventh title in the 24 year history of the competition.

On Friday the team played Taranaki to record a 59 - 21 win and in the grand final on Saturday they faced a strong Manawatu side and held on to win 25 - 23.

Players to stand out for Wellington Maori over the 2 days were the hardworking Upper Hutt pair of lock James Measor & prop Apa Heemi.  Norths Leon Ellison was in great form from fullback & 2009 NZ U20 representative Frae Wilson from Wainuiomata was busy in his work. James Proctor of Oriental-Rongotai was a tower of strength at first five, kicking goals & guiding the team around the park.

Next up for the Wellington Maori side is the September Representative programme which will be announced in a few weeks time.
