Wellington at the National Sevens in Queenstown

The Wellington Sevens side took part in the National Sevens competition in Queenstown in the weekend. On day one Wellington faced Waikato, Counties and Northland in pool play before heading into the Championship round playoffs on day two after qualifying second in their pool.

Wellington dropped out in the semi-finals of the plate to Manawatu.

Wellington's Results in Queenstown -

Day one:

Waikato - Lost 12-28

Counties - Won 29-12

Northland - Won 22-19

Day two:

Canterbury (Cup quarter-final) - Lost 17-19

Manawatu (Plate semi-final) - Lost 14-15

 

The team had the services of Hurricane and former New Zealand Sevens player, Julian Savea for the weekend. The side representing Wellington was as follows:
