Five in New Zealand Secondary Schools side

Five Wellington players have been selected in the New Zealand Secondary Schools squad to prepare for upcoming internationals against Tonga and Australia.

The five are: Joe Latta (Wellington College), Ope Peleseuma (St Pat's Silverstream), TJ Perenara (Mana College), Matt Proctor (St Pat's Town) and Topou Sapoaga (Wellington College).

Ope Peleseuma returns for his second year in the national schools squad, while Peleseuma and Latta were also previously members of the New Zealand U17 Development squad.

The 24-player squad plays Tonga in Hamilton on 27 September and Otago U19 in Dunedin on 1 October ahead of their meeting there with Australia five days later on 6 October.

The squad was selected from their school 1st XV teams, four regional camps, a regional tournament in July in which the Hurricanes Schools lost in the final to their Blues counterparts and the top four 1st XV tournament in Rotorua.

Meanwhile Ardie Savea (Rongotai College), Aviata Silago (St Pat's Silverstream) and Tauasosi Tuiamavave (St Pat's Town) have been included in the New Zealand U17 Development Squad.
