On Friday the 13th November the annual Wellington Rugby Tui Awards Dinner will be held at the Duxton Hotel. The awards are to recognise rugby achievements in the Wellington region, and once again it was a year with plenty to celebrate.

The 2009 categories and nominees are:

Referee of the Year

Awarded to the best performing Wellington referee officiating at club level and who may also be officiating at either AA Rewards Heartland Championship or Air New Zealand Cup level.

Most Promising Player of the Year

This award recognises the player in Wellington club and/or representative rugby showing the most promise/potential during the 2009 season.

Representative Coach of the Year

Presented to recognise outstanding Representative Coaching achievement for during the 2009 season.

  • Thomas Perenara (Wellington U16 Development)

 

Club Coach of the Year (NEW)

Presented to recognise outstanding Club Coaching achievement for during the 2009 season.

  • Sandy McConell (Upper Hutt Colts)

Club Player of the Year

Awarded to the most outstanding player during the 2009 Wellington club rugby season who also epitomises the spirit of club rugby.

 Awarded to the most outstanding player in Wellington women's rugby during 2009.

Tui Player of the Year

Awarded to the most outstanding Vodafone Wellington Lions player who has best embraced all aspects of the team ethos, both on and off the field during 2009.

Awarded to the club with the highest average aggregate points per game of awarded by referees in club matches

A J Griffiths Memorial Trophy

Awarded to the team with the highest average aggregate points per game awarded by referees in club matches

Sir William Perry Memorial Trophy

Awarded to the club with the highest average of championship points per team

Dewar Shield

Awarded to the club scoring the highest aggregate of championship points in all grades
