Bunnings Fair Play Award 2011

Developing good sportsmanship at a junior level is very important; by setting the right example for kids we are shaping the leaders of the future. Wellington Rugby is very pleased to offer in conjunction with generous support of our close partner Bunnings, a weekly "Bunning's Fair Play Award"; recognising and rewarding those who demonstrate good sportsmanship every week.

Each week Wellington Rugby will select a winning nominee who demonstrated Fair Play at a junior level.

This week, the nominees were;

  • Ethan Taupau-Leota from Poneke
  • Kevin Jenkins from Poneke
  • Jettson Jack Watt from Wests
  • Scott Kennedy from Paremata-Plimmerton
  • Te Taahe Nepe from Poneke
  • Mike Byrne from Wests

All these Nominees showed great acts of Sportsmanship in their games on Saturday; however our winner for this week is

Jettson Jack Watt

Jett was nominated by parents at his game on Saturday. Here is Jett's display of sportsmanship;

Jett was given a player of the day ribbon from another child in the opposing team at the end of the game when everyone was milling around.

He was basically given it because he was the last player standing close by. A few minutes later he gave it to the best player on our Wests Eagles team as he thought he deserved it for playing the best on that day.

Thanks to all our Nominees for encouraging "Fair Play"
