Western Bays Rippa Rugby Tournament
Rippa Rugby hit the Western Bays last Tuesday 16 March with over 500 kids scorching the surface looking for the tryline.
30 teams from around Tawa, Porirua & Plimmerton jumped all over the bouncy castle while they attended the Rippa tournament which was held at Ngati Toa Domain.
Winner's on the day were
Year 7/8 category
- Cup Section - Tairangi School Troopers
- Plate Section - Windley School
- Shield Section - Paremata 1 School
Year 5/6 category
- Pool 1 - Postgate School Cobras
- Pool 2 - Tairangi School Tornadoes
- Pool 3 - Windley School
- Pool 4 - Postgate School Tarantulas
A big thank you to the Porirua City Council for the use of the grounds and also the Pirates Cove for their vouchers to the kids.
Hutt Valley Rippa Rugby Tournament
Rippa Rugby hit the Hutt Valley on Tuesday 9th March at Fraser Park with over 400 year 5/6 kids attending the event.
The kids dodged & ran all day as they received Hurricane posters, tattoo's and a voucher from the Pirates Cove Mini golf.
Also in action was the Hurricanes bouncy Castle which took a pounding from the kids!
Winners on the day were

- Plate Section - Wellesley 1 School
- Shield Section - Pomare 2 School
- Pool 4 - Te Ara Whanui Kura Kaupapa Maori
- Pool 5 - Trentham School
Wellington City Rippa Tournament
32 teams from 13 schools around the Wellington city region formed a Hurricane by running around in the year 5/6 & year 7/8 Rippa tournament held at Ian Galloway Park.
Perfect conditions were set until the kids ran riot on the fields and also the Hurricanes bouncy castles that were available. Heaps of fun was had and the following teams were winners on the day.

- Pool 1 - Khandallah School
- Pool 2 - Karori Normal 1 School
- Pool 3 - Kelburn 2 School
- Pool 4 - Newtown School
Year 7/8 Winners
- Cup section - Hataitai 1 School
- Plate Section - Brooklyn 1 School
- Pool 3 - Hataitai 2 School
Again a big thank you to all the parents and teachers involved in bringing the kids to our event.
Junior Registration Day
A Hurricane hit the rugby community during the night of Thursday 25th February. 17 clubs around the Wellington region held a junior rugby registration night with players from the Hurricanes at each club.
This full-on attack proved to be a big hit with these future Hurricanes as nearly 2000 kids registered to play rugby for the 2010 season.
Players were involved in many activities from helping with weigh-ins, to giving out jerseys and of course signing autographs.
All kids who registered on the night received a free Leslie rugby ball, a poster, and vouchers to Pirates Cove mini-golf and the Hurricanes v Lions game at Westpac Stadium.

Year 3/4 Rippa Tournament held at Petone Rec
39 Schools from all over Wellington attended the Year 3/4 Rippa tournament held at Petone Rec on Monday 22 February. Over 600 kids attended the event to kick off "Rugby Awareness Week" for junior rugby in Wellington.
